Regulations for admission of pressure horns and compressor horns
If tone horns are used as an additional signal system they do not have to be approved or mentioned in the car documents. Because the usage is only allowed outside of closed cities, the serial horn must stay operational. The mounting has to be done in a way, that safety regulations are not harmed (Risk of injury through an accident). A mounting above e.g. 2 meters is harmless, as well as under the front bumper or under the hood of the vehicle. Multi-tone-horns are only allowed to use, if all tones are active at the same time. Only the volume is limited. The volume is not allowed to be higher than 118dB within a range of 2 meters (§ 55 StVZO clause 2).
